Mid-Eastern Region of the National Model Railroad Association

The National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) promotes and encourages the art and craft of model railroading through education, development of standards and recommended practices, advocacy, and social interaction.  There are about 20,000 NMRA members worldwide.

The Mid-Eastern Region (MER), the sponsor of this website, is one of seventeen Regions within NMRA.  The MER includes Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, and the District of Columbia, plus parts of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and North Carolina.  There are about 2,000 members in the MER.  MER activities include at least one convention each year – normally in the fall.

As described elsewhere on this website, there are ten active local Divisions within the MER.  Each Division has it own program of meetings, tours, social activities, and educational activities.  The map shows the complete area.
Links to the web pages for the various divisions are also located on the map page.

You're likely very good at some of things you do...but how do you compare to the best?
The Achievement Program lets you measure yourself, and gets you involved in positive feedback.
Eventually the AP leads to the Master Model Railroader award.  And yes, you can get there without building a locomotive from brass sheet and tube!

    Past President, 2000-2004

The NMRA, like the MER, is a volunteer organization with only 3 paid employees. The corporate office is located in Chattanooga, Tenn. This office is responsible to meet the needs of over 20 thousand model railroaders.....  -->more
